Join Us in Northern Ireland for 8 Nights - For Only $975 Per Person
The irrepressible and creative Alan Chambers, member of the Board of Directors for Sister Cities International and his fellow sister city activists in Northern Ireland left the 50th Anniversary Conference in Washington saying, "We might have a surprise for sister city members very, very soon." They have made their surprise come true in spectacular Irish style. Because the Board of Directors is having its annual autumn leadership retreat in Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Sister Cities thought this would be a great time to invite all sister city members to visit their corner of the Emerald Isle. A high-value package of 9 days and 8 nights has been arranged starting October 8 -16, 2006. The registration is now open, and you can register online! But hurry, space is very limited!

Help Chart the Future of Sister Cities International - Your Input is Wanted!
The next five years hold remarkable promise and opportunity for the sister city movement - and we need you to help us chart our course! Your input is wanted by September 10, 2006 on four key questions (see the questions online) as we draft a new strategic plan to guide Sister Cities International through 2007-2012. Visit our website to review the draft plan and don't forget to send your response to lolson@sister-cities.org before September 10, 2006.

Win $5,000 for Your Sister City Project
Global Giving, a partner of Sister Cities International, is offering $5,000 to the project on www.SupportSisterCities.org that brings in the most donors (not the most money) between September 1 and October 31, 2006. Second place is $3,000, and third place is $2,000. The minimum allowable donation is $10, and your community must bring in at least 100 separate donors to qualify. If you don't have a project on www.SupportSisterCities.org yet, consider posting one NOW! Get more information online right now about the project, or email Matt Corso at mcorso@sister-cities.org.

The September Concert: More Than 30 Sister City Programs Organize Events
More than 30 sister city programs are busy organizing free musical performances for the September Concert. For example, Phoenix Sister Cities will host their event on September 11 at the Phoenix Center for the Arts. Performers include Phoenix's City Jazz Youth Big Band and the Hermosillo Youth Rondalla from sister city, Hermosillo, Mexico. Press release and flier templates, as well as more information, are available online for participating communities. For more information, contact Swathi Veeravalli at sveeravalli@sister-cities.org.

Sister City Programs Highlighted World-Wide on Voice of America
Sister city programs in Atlanta, Brussels and Lagos were highlighted on Voice of America's "Talk to America" call-in show last week on August 24. Matthew Corso of Sister Cities International sat in the studio in Washington, DC with the program host and answered questions from listeners about how to start sister city programs. You can hear the story online (scroll down to August 24).
