Long Beach first became
involved in the Sister City International Program in 1963,
when the cities of Long Beach and Yokkaichi, Japan
established a partner- ship with the signing of affiliation
documents. Today,
Long Beach enjoys eight Sister City relationships. They provide over 20 annual cultural
events in the Long Beach community, host over 25
international delegations per year and an Annual
International Sister City Festival, drawing close to 1000
